@remoteoliverIt’s me, Oliver. (remoteoliver) & I never intended to be branded as 'The Upwork Guy' but I documented my whole journey here and shared what works and what doesn't.
And at the start, I found it SO hard to get clients, and the clients I did get, didn’t pay much money. My days were filled with endless revisions, and not knowing where the next client is coming from. I knew I wanted that remote life, but felt there must be an easier way to get there.
The Issue I had
I thought it was the competitive niche, I thought it was the quality of clients on these platforms, I blamed everything else, apart from my approach.
So I’m on board with your frustration, I’ve been there. I worked pretty much every weekend, most evenings and put all my time and effort into figuring out the best way to optimise my profile, understand the algorithm, and ways to get my projects to the first page of Upwork.
